Depends on what some girls are into, really. All girls are different. I, myself, like guys to have opinions and if they are too obedient then it gets boring fast. Girls who like guys who do that like feeling dominant and in control, are called a dominatrix. It all depends on a girls fancy because no one is the same

What are some good dog training books or DVD?

I currently have my 5 month old in German Shepherd Puppy class. I was going to go through all 4 classes at Petsmart, but now I’m thinking I could save about 0.00 and teach my German Shepherd the same things (and probably more), if I invest in a good book or DVD. Any suggestions? I’d prefer a DVD, but books are fine too. That way I can also apply the training to our other two German Shepherds at the same time.
I do have a clicker… I was very impressed with how easy and quickly she responded to it. I take my German Shepherds to the German Shepherd park so they do a lot of socializing there. I’m just not very impressed with the training I’m getting. Asking questions is hard, because I think the trainer is more distracted than the German Shepherds.

i recently ordered pit bulls for dummies, and will soon acquire a copy of German Shepherd training for dummies.
the lady that lives downstairs from me gave me a book titled ‘Smarter than you Think’ and it tells you to throw things at your German Shepherd to teach it to come, and to stick a match in its butt to poop, and not trust German Shepherd food companies, and all this weird stuff, not too sure about that book.
any other suggestions? or tips?

I want to get a German Shepherd soon, but I don’t know how to train them. I had a German Shepherd when I was a kid, but he wasn’t very well trained. He jumped up on people, barked at every random noise he heard, and always jumped onto the furniture. That’s why I want to know some tips for training a German Shepherd.

The absolute best thing you can do is take him to a formal obedience class…Not even so much for the training itself, but for the socialization…Good luck with your new baby..

hi, i live in las vegas(warm weather, and I just got a 3 month old German Shepherd Puppy pitbull 2 days ago, he is beautiful. How can I teach it to sleep outside at night? I tried yesterday and he kept scratching and pawing at my glass door, he didnt let me sleep.
p.s, i wish i could keep it indoor, but it cries a lot at night, I have a one year old that needs to sleep.

Hopefully in the near future, my fiance and I are looking to get a German Shepherd Puppy and I have always wanted to be able to go into hospitals, especially childrens hospitals, with my German Shepherd and give those kids a better experience.
We’re looking to get a Lab, Boxer, or German Shep. (Unless something else comes across out paths.) We live in SE Wisconsin, right around Milwaukee.
So basically, I’m looking for any and all information I can get about therapy German Shepherd training and certification.

Therapy work is very rewarding.
Some hospitals have restrictions on breeds. I visit a major trauma center near Los Angeles, CA.
They DO NOT allow Pit Bulls, German Shepherds, Rottweilers of Dobermans, no matter what.
That is the only facility I have visited so far that had those restrictions.
Your German Shepherd will need to be able to get his CGC (Canine Good Citizen) as well as some additional requirements from the threapy groups.
My German Shepherds are certified through TDI, who seem to be a little more costly with their membership fees and yearly veterinary tests.
