No, no, NO.
The whip is used for agitation only. It also builds soundness and courage. In the German ring, a blank pistol is fired at some distance behind the dog and the dog must show no fear or concern and keep doing what it is doing.

uhm…i dun have any knowledge abt training german shepherd. but did u really use the whip to whip the dog?

My dogs do both herding and schutzhund as well. where do you train? my male has got the german herding title (HGH) and we are working towards our schutzhund 3. and my female also has her HGH and we are getting into high gear with our schutzhund.
i train in NJ and PA. their herding titles were done on a flock of 200 plus sheep. which is why i’d love to get a video of that up here! it looks alot different than working 3 sheep.

Yes, this is the same Stretch as in the herding video. He is Johann’s son and is 18 months old.
We are very careful about the flooring. It is a brand new training facility and we were anxious to use it, as well as anxious to not train out in the heat. The matting has not yet arrived.
Hope you can figure out how to post your dog videos…it’s quite easy, if I can do it.
how old is the dog there. man, don’t you worry about the dogs getting hurt on that flooring? I’ve got to figure out how to post videos of my dogs! Is this the same strech that was in the herding video?
Thank you very, very much. This is the responsible way to train dogs to bite. These dogs will NEVER bite out of fear, aggression, etc. They will ONLY bite upon command.

Okay, that’s better. Take a look at my other videos and watch Johann’s bitework. He is Stretch’s father. You can also see more of Johann in videos posted by kycydsue. Those videos show the higher level of Schutzhund protection work…this video shows the very early training.

Did you read the description? Do you understand bitework training? Are you in any way qualified to make the statement that this was “a whole bunch of nothing”?
well i dont see anything..couple of dogs on leashes and a guy whipping his whip..bitework?
