    Couldn’t disagree more…

  2. SeppLainer says:

Don’t let them run free? Huh?

  3. ThePP21 says:

in sweden we call german shepherd , schäfer witch comes form schaferhund

  4. brighthorizondogs says:

@JWumboTravel What size toy, mini, or standard? Poodles usually don’t bite unless the owner has taught them that it’s acceptable, like those that think puppy nipping is cute. Standard poodles are also the most gentle and least vocal.

Are you saying you would recommend getting a GSD to a person that has no other experience with dogs? Inexperienced owners are exactly what caused 2 local GSD to be destroyed by the town. Same owners 2 separate times. They shouldn’t even own dogs.

  5. JWumboTravel says:

This is a lie. I have a 14 year old German Shepherd Dog and she is in perfect condition. I have also had three others in the past. All of them lived to be at least 10 years old. And I had a poodle when I was younger. He would bite anyone that would come near him. I was only 5 at the time so we gave him to a breeder, who gave us our first GSD named Charlotte.

  6. brighthorizondogs says:

The breed also has serious health problems associated with the breed and health testing is no guarantee your pup won’t develop an issue even if the lines are clear of issues as I have learned. Most are ball crazed too and can be obsessive about their ball. Smart dogs that are a little too smart for their own good and need experienced owners. This is not a first time dog owner breed, get a standard poodle instead (speaking from experience, I have one too).

They love to swim???? Someone needs to tell my GSD that. I think the destructive nature has been left out, they like to chew especially as pups. Mine is addicted to nylabones. If you get a GSD expect things to get chewed, I’ve learned not to leave anything I value in reach, even though she’s stopped chewing my stuff I still don’t trust leaving many things within her reach when I sleep. Training isn’t suggested for this breed it is required… A GSD needs training

  8. ezzzbecky says:

you got deautsher pretty well…but schaferhund is pronounced kinda like…shayfer but faster. not being patronising just thought cus you love those dogs so much you’d like to know how to pronounce their name properly.:)

    your accent is pathetic

  10. 242176 says:

I have a 6yr old male & a 3.5 yr old female (both ‘fixed’). They have never been leashed; verbal command training is all they’ve ever needed. Training takes much time & patience, but the rewards are great. They’ve always been great whether in a public place or on a hiking trip. They do however require MUCH of your time- not a good breed for someone that can’t afford to continuously spend time with a dog. Otherwise they become depressed and reflect this through aggression, becoming a ‘mean’ dog.

Still want one. I love them, and I trust Animal Planet, and they say that Shepherds are very friendly.

  13. tinka1223 says:

    Heyy x i have a german shepard and i am 11
she is VERY loyal the the dog training people have said, im tellin you you need to be careful , and socialise the dog in early days , my dog diddnt like dogs until we got to training she barked and growled at other dogs , also they are VERY strong , so if your young and your on your own walkin make sure you have the wright leads , as they will go after anythin ,
i dont know if this is for you as information , i may not be wright but …

  14. mxer294 says:

Had Border Collies most of my life. My all black GSD had a pretty poor start in life and I picked her up at 6 months old. She’s 8 years old now with a constantly amusing pesonality, and the temperment of a saint. By far the best dog I’ve ever had by a good margin.

I totally trust her around people even if I’m not around, including my grand kids, though the youngest would probably get knocked over by her a few times.
the couple of hours were were on it.

  15. KarmicOmen says:

Having owned GSD’s my whole life, I cannot stress this enough — socialize, socialize, socialize, and do so VERY EARLY in life!

These dogs are not likely to challenge their owners, as their drive to please is so high, and their loyalty is so deeply ingrained that they are highly unlikely to turn on their masters and mistresses … sadly, even in cases where owners didn’t deserve to have such a terrific dog, and harmed the dog. In such cases, sad but true, this breed is loyal to a fault.

  16. KarmicOmen says:

    Doy-cher Shay-fer-hund

    ;o)

  17. TanisterATL says:

They are immensely gentle giants. They are fully aware of their power & know how to keep it in check.

  18. lorelainharlow says:

German Shepherds are the best. I wish more people would realize what gentle giants they are & save more from shelters.

  19. asskicker543 says:

bad idea to put a shepard in a leash…let me tell you why…i was walking one day and my shepard saw a squeirl at the park and well i thought i had my feet set so i wouldnt let it go but for some resone
i guess i wasent holding him by the leash right and i fell on a rock and i broke my knee and i steped on his foot, but anyway the women is righ about the GSD being active my GSD and me alwayz take a five mile run up padua hills and we run up then we run back down and he always wins the run

  20. Arcanineluvr says:

I still want one and nothings going to change that.

  21. Illbrucka says:

These dogs saved lifes in mexico in 1985 after an earthquake. T1hank you doggies and thank you germany for having brought them .

  22. mikediazaz says:

I import my GSD from Czech republic. All have been extremely stable with kids and family and all have been great protection dogs. They never go berserk and only attack when the situation warrants or when commanded to do so. MD

  23. MuminGrottan says:

Man would be so dissapointing not to be able to have your dog leach-less. I want to play fetch and run with it and stuff. Tho I prob could after some time and training, but you never know if the dog might go berserk and attack people/animals? :S

  24. RockabillyVegan says:

My Jack isn’t very obedient either, he listens when I’m firm, but otherwise he has a mind of his own. The breed in general can be very stubborn, but that is usually when there is some dominance confusion.

  25. Fastblade113 says:

i have a longhaired shepherd she’s not as obediant as my other german shepherd you can have her lol
