u might of not want to do it in the same order every time cu as u see in the video he go’s to shake before told. i might help them learn better but im takin it hes alot older now any ways… cute dog tho =P

  3. shadowclaw78 says:

first ask the dog to sit then you take the treat and hold it in front of his nose. then bring the hand to the floor. when he puts his head down praise him.
    sorry for any miss spellings.^^

Your pup is too cute! Best of luck with the rest of training.

I think it is about repetition and being consistent. They are very smart dogs and can learn very quickly. I am glad that he is with a good family now. Good luck! Since Bowzer has gotten bigger, he is more smart which makes him more stubborn, so I find it harder to train him.

amazingggg!!!!! how do you do that????

  7. babygirl319bc says:

I just got a German sheperd thats about 8 months old, How would I go About Teaching him to lay. He does good on sit and stay but I just cant master lay and shake.. Hes a little on the weak side from being mistreated but hes in great hands now.

  8. can2484 says:

Thanks for the advice! He’s a couple of months shy of one years old, and does everything on command now without having to repeat. I will keep that in mind if I decide to get another puppy. Thanks again!

nice pup! but a helpful hint you should never repeat a command i.e sit if you repeat the command it teaches the dog he only has to listen when your voice changes and you sound mad. he should sit on the first command if he doesnt sit the first time move to somthing else. this teaches instant obedience to orders. granted i know he is only 5.5 weeks but thats somthing you can think about!

his 1st day training?? if that so he’s really good at sit!! so young and he’ve already understood sit… simply amazing!

haha thats looks exactly like my gsd pupp mines 5.5 weeks old too man do i love him.i need to start training him.lol.

  12. can2484 says:

Thank you very much! When we made the video, it was his first day of training, and what you mentioned was what we were trying to do. He is now 7 months, so he has perfected the sit/shake commands now…haha. Yeah, you are right, it was difficult at first, but he got it.

  13. RayPaterson says:

Very intelligent dog. Thing that I’ve had a problem with and what he is kind of doing is once he sits, he’s putting his paw up to shake.. Make sure when he sits he doesn’t put his paw up yet. Its difficult but I had to correct that once the dog layed down, she’d want to roll over without command. But good looking dog too.
