Thisvideo has now become a classic. Our beloved Shelby had to be put to sleep on September 23rd 2008, due to an unknown illness. In May 2008 I let her outside to play, I meant to change her water bucket for the day, but before I had a chance to, she drank some water from her bucket and developed what I believe was a bacterial infection. A few days later, she started throwing up yellow bile and wouldn’t eat, so we took her to the veterinarian. He gave her some medication that appeared to have stopped whatever it was. Then four months later after we moved into our new home, the symptoms appeared again, only this time Shelby went from 80 lbs to 60lbs. She started showing sign of fatigue and wouldnt eat. All she would do is lay around, she had no energy to move. Two different veterinarians in Florida couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her. They did nothing for Shelby, and when her health deteriorated very badly on Monday September 22nd, their response was, we dont know whats wrong with her, but you can drive to Stuart Florida and pay $500 to have them take a look at her. We didnt have $500 upfront, and they wouldnt even look at Shelby without it. Based upon Shelby’s condition the morning of September 23rd, we made the decision to put her to sleep. She lost 20 lbs and wouldn’t eat, drink or go the bathroom. I wasn’t about to let her continue in the state she was in. The decision my husband and I made, killed a part of me inside, that wound will never heal. To have to look …

Sorry for your loss. Dogs brings so much joy in to our lifes and share their endless love with us! Shelby is not gone, she is just waiting for you around the corner!
im a huger fan of this breed. your dog is beautiful. but you see? she still lives even though she is gone. dont you find that to be amazing? i do. now so many other people know about her and her pure goodness.
so sorry about your loss
I lost dog about 12 years ago – pased away in 97′. Your dog is beautiful
I had a 16 year old germen shepard who everyone loved a lot. on the 15 of januray 2009 he had a stroke and we had him put down…That day was the most painful day that I have ever had. I have 2 other germen shepards who misses him. Kirra wont leave Sabas grave and Zac now sleeps where Saba sleeps. Looking at your dog bought a tear to my eyes because Saba was the same.
Im really sorry to read about Shelby.
RIP Saba and Shelby
So sorry to hear of the loss of Shelby. I have two shepherds myself and I hate to think of the day I lose one. It will hurt. Very nice videos! what a nice way to remember her!
I like her jacket
Nice video – brings back so many memories. German shepherds are so loyal, ferocious at times but gentle most of the time, and smart (in a mischievous way). I wouldn’t pick another type if I had a choice – hope you are able to get over her!
sorry for loss i am sure she was loved very much and i think she would have had a happy life with you
I’m so sorry for your loss. I truly dread the day I loose my best friend Nicoh. Can’t even think about it.
All the best to you.
i am so very sorry for your loss. i can tell that you loved her dearly.
I like her coffee table.
